Located on the coast of the Sea of Marmara, in the Bursa region of Turkey, this beach is part of the northern coastline of the Dardanelles Strait. The shore of this area is characterized by a succession of coves and small public beaches, alternating with private seaside facilities. The waters of the Marmara, relatively calm in this section, offer a typical greenish-gray hue, while the hinterland consists of wooded hills that gradually descend towards the shore. This public beach, named "Halk Plajı" (literally "People's Beach"), is distinguished by its free access and community purpose, contrasting with the developed tourist complexes that border it. 0.8 km away is another section of beach with the same name, while Altunhan Plajı extends 1.8 km away. The coastline here remains less developed compared to the resorts of the Aegean coast, preserving a more authentic and less commercialized character. The shore offers an open and clear space, where sand meets shallow water for several tens of meters. Access to this beach remains completely free, without declared swimming surveillance. No specialized infrastructure is reported on the site itself, and Blue Flag status does not apply. The lack of facilities for wheelchair accessibility reflects the rustic nature of this public beach, typical of secondary seaside facilities in coastal Turkey.
The name "Yayla Sahili" refers to the Anatolian plateaus (yayla in Turkish), although the beach itself is located at a low altitude facing the Sea of Marmara. This region of the Marmara coastline, less frequented by tourists than the neighboring Aegean coast, has long served as a relaxation spot for local populations from Bursa and surrounding villages. The designation "Halk Plajı" (popular beach) testifies to a historical desire to maintain publicly accessible seaside areas, contrasting with the growing privatization of the Turkish coastline. Since the 1980s, this sector has gradually been equipped with small restaurants and rudimentary changing rooms, reflecting regular but modest use, far from the bustle of coastal resorts.
