plage du camping

Located in Baden-Württemberg, in southwestern Germany, this beach stretches along the Rhine River near the French border, about 15 kilometers downstream from Karlsruhe. The river, wide and majestic at this latitude, borders a succession of alluvial banks alternating between grassy areas and direct access to the water. The riverside landscape remains relatively preserved, far from urban concentrations, with wooded banks that give the area a relaxing atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle of cities. The campsite beach is part of a series of access points to the river, with several other beaches dotting the approximately 3.4 kilometers of surrounding area. At 2.5 kilometers, there is a first DE-S Beach, followed by a second at 2.7 kilometers. The site itself offers direct access to the Rhine without major leisure infrastructure, characterized by a natural approach and moderate local attendance. The setting remains functional rather than tourist-oriented, attracting mainly local swimmers and campers from the riverside facilities. No supervision is provided, and accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not guaranteed. The site does not have the Blue Flag label. Visitors should plan their personal equipment and consult local conditions before swimming, particularly due to currents and river traffic.

About this spot

The name "campsite beach" simply reflects its primary purpose: a developed river access point near the camping facilities that line the Rhine banks. The Rhine, a natural border between Germany and France since the Treaty of Westphalia (1648), remains a major commercial artery. This section of the river, downstream from Karlsruhe, has long served as an informal swimming spot for locals, especially during hot summers in Baden-Württemberg, before minimal developments structured access.
