Located on the Catalan coast, in the Tarragona region, Platja dels Tres Micos is part of the rocky and rugged coastline of the Costa Daurada. In the immediate vicinity of Platja de la Musclera (1.2 km northeast) and Platja de les Barques (2.2 km south), it belongs to a string of small coves that characterize this portion of the Spanish Mediterranean coast. Access to this beach remains confidential, far from the main tourist routes that structure the region. This small beach is distinguished by its discreet character and its natural exposure to the elements. Unlike neighboring developed beaches, it retains a certain ruggedness, with a undeveloped shore dominated by rock formations typical of the Costa Daurada. The site benefits from neither coastal surveillance nor standardized facilities, making it a free-access location but without formal tourist services. Arriving on the sand offers a raw experience, with no infrastructure between the visitor and the sea. No facilities are reported on site: no toilets, showers, or dedicated parking. The beach does not have the Blue Flag label and is not supervised. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is not guaranteed. This configuration makes it a site for visitors seeking simplicity, without relying on coastal amenities.
The name 'Tres Micos'—the three monkeys—likely refers to a local rock formation or a minor Catalan legend associated with this stretch of coastline. The Costa Daurada, to which this beach belongs, owes its name to the golden hue of its sands and the historical richness of its Roman and medieval settlements. This stretch of coast long served as a refuge for small fishing communities; coves like this one, difficult to access by land, constituted natural anchorages away from major trade routes. Even today, the absence of massive tourist infrastructure preserves the character of these small beaches, witnesses to a coastal Catalonia less transformed than its more famous neighbors.
